Welcome to the Silence Franciscan!
Hi, I’m Jason Boyd. I’m so glad you’ve found your way here. I’m a postulant with the Holy Order in the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi and a full-time resident seminarian. Currently, I’m in my second year at the University of the South, School of Theology, immersing myself in a journey of faith, learning, and spiritual growth.
Silence Franciscan is my journal—a place where I reflect on faith through the lens of a d/Deaf and accessibility-centered perspective. This space is about walking with God at a human pace, paying attention to holy stillness, and noticing how God speaks not only through words, but through presence, embodiment, and silence itself.
Here you’ll find theological reflections, devotional writing, and pastoral musings drawn from daily prayer, lived experience, and ministry formation. My hope is that these reflections invite you to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and discover where God is already dwelling among us.
All Substack posts on Silence Franciscan—including blogs, reflections, and devotions—will always be free to read. This space is offered as a gift because the Gospel is not something to be placed behind a wall. From time to time, I may use the Substack chat feature for conversation and community-building, but the written reflections themselves will remain open and accessible to all.
I’m also working on a book—an ongoing, deeply personal project that weaves together memoir, theology, and accessibility. It grows alongside my own formation, and I pray it will one day encourage others who are seeking God from the margins, in quiet places, or along unexpected paths.
This coming summer, I will be undertaking an intensive seven-week field education internship in St. Louis, working closely with a mentor in parish and pastoral ministry. This immersive experience will focus on hands-on formation—pastoral care, leadership, administration, and the day-to-day life of the Church—shaping me for future ministry with both Deaf and hearing communities.
If you feel called to support this journey, subscribing to Silence Franciscan is one meaningful way to do so. While the writing here remains free, paid subscriptions help cover essential seminary expenses and make possible formative opportunities like summer field education and future mission work.
Thank you for being here. I’m grateful for your presence, your prayers, and your companionship as we walk this sacred road together—one quiet, faithful step at a time.
